An update from Cambridge Writing Retreat

We hope you’re safe and well and managing to take something positive from all of this despite the challenging and strange circumstances we all find ourselves in.

Whether you want to use any extra time you may have to fall back in love with your writing, write for fun, or finish a project, we hope we can help.

We’re gearing up to offer some online courses and masterclasses in the summer. I will also be running a workshop on Starting To Write Poetry, so look out for those.  But first, we want to inspire you, by bringing a touch of  Cambridge Writing Retreat beauty in to your lives via our daily writing prompts in May – many of which are themselves inspired by the garden and grounds.

Our gardens here at the Cambridge Writing Retreat are looking fantastic, and it’s such a shame we can’t share them right now. The clematis, montana, looks fabulous draped in little pink stars over the pergola, and the fruit tree blossom is exceptional. We’ve also been busy planting lots of seeds in our greenhouse, and now they’re in the cold frame ready to be planted out in the garden. We should be self-sufficient in salad and vegetables in a few weeks! Our chickens are laying (we still love them, even if they did eat all the baby spinach plants while our backs were turned). We hope we can soon share this bounty with you in the form of home-grown, home-cooked lunches on our day retreats and courses -- or dinners if you’re staying with us – in the not too distant future.

Every writer I know has tried to seize the opportunity to write during lockdown, with varying degrees of success. Wherever you are in your writing journey --if you’re still trying to start, or want to keep going—we hope to help you now and in the future.

If you need a little extra encouragement, accountability, and some helpful tips and prompts, I am delighted to be able to offer special lockdown coaching. This includes a one hour face-to-face (internet version!) coaching session, with some gentle and realistic goal setting, plus six, twenty minute conversations at regular intervals, to encourage you to keep on track and stick to your goals. See our Coaching page for more details.
